Lifestyle Inventory®

The more your organization members know about how they think and behave, the better prepared they are to improve. That's where the Life Styles Inventory: Self comes in. What sets LSI apart from other development materials is that it actually reveals the leadership styles that help or hinder an individual in fulfilling his or her potential. Also, because inventory results remain confidential for the participant's eyes only - honesty and accuracy are greatly enhanced.

Personality inventories are driven by self-perception and are designed to measure an individual according to someone's theory of what constitutes personality. However, few of the personality theorists agree on the dimensions of personality.

There is also agreement that personality is multi-layered i.e., some characteristics are more deep-rooted and therefore even less susceptible to change.  Most personality inventories do not differentiate between those levels.  While there is considerable discussion as to the value of Personality Tests as a selection tool, there seems to be greater agreement that some Attitudes, Perceptions etc. are good performance predictors.

LSI Self is a measure of attitudes, motivations, and perceptual filters.  It has high reliability and validity.  The research on which it is based sets out to identify those attitudes that help or hinder performance and effectiveness. It is based more on cognitive psychology than personality theory. Attitudes are the layer of personality that have the most potential for change.

It is a self-assessment tool that measures 12 key thinking patterns, or "styles". The LSI Self promotes performance change and improvement by increasing personal understanding of one's thinking and behaviour.  By responding to 240 inventory items, individuals learn exactly where they need to focus their development efforts, without ambiguity or guesswork. The results of the self-description are plotted on a circular graph for easy visualization of how the individual thinks and behaves in the 12 LSI styles. This profile acts as a personalized developmental needs assessment, calling attention to the individual's strengths as well as areas needing improvement.

Using their profile results as benchmarks, individuals can now set targeted improvement goals.  They are shown how to formulate specific strategies to achieve them.  Further, post testing makes ongoing follow-up easy. The LSI is a self-scored instrument that encourages participants to create strategies for change by using the Self-Development Guide.
