The PSI assessments are a group of tests that help measure a variety of areas. The descriptions and scales appear below. Depending on the PSI assessment version you use, your PSI assessment contains from three to ten scales. Employers can use information from these scales to help determine the acceptability of an applicant for the position being filled. |

Your PSI assessment will contain some of the following scales:
Honesty - The Honesty Scale helps assess the likelihood that the individual will not engage in workplace theft.
Nonviolence - The Nonviolence Scale helps to measure the likelihood that an applicant is not prone to violent behavior
Drug Avoidance - The Drug Avoidance Scale helps to measure the likelihood that the applicant will not sell or use illegal drugs on the job.
Tenure or Job Commitment - The Tenure or Job Commitment Scale helps to measure the likelihood that the applicant will not quit after a short period of time.
Employee/Customer Relations - The Employee/Customer Relations Scale helps to measure an applicant's tendencies toward courtesy, cooperation and service.
Stress Tolerance - The Stress Tolerance Scale helps to measure an applicant's ongoing experience with stress and the ability to tolerate stress.
Risk Avoidance - The Risk Avoidance Scale helps assess tendencies to engage in high-risk, dangerous and thrill-seeking behavior.
Safety - The Safety Scale helps to measure an individual's level of safety consciousness and the likelihood that the applicant may be a safety risk.
Work Values - The Work Values Scale helps to measure an applicant's attitude toward work and positive work habits.
Supervision Attitudes - The Supervision Attitudes Scale helps to measure the likelihood that the applicant will respond appropriately to supervision.
Responsibility - The Responsibility Scale helps to measure the likelihood that an applicant will not engage in counter-productive, careless or irresponsible behaviour in the workplace.
Productivity - The Productivity Scale helps to measure the likelihood that an applicant has the potential to perform well on the job and become a productive member in your organization.
Math - The Math Scale helps to measure basic arithmetic ability as it relates to totaling orders, counting change and figuring discounts.
Sales Aptitude - The Sales Aptitude Scale helps to measure an applicant's sales skills, sales interest and sales responsibility.
Emotional Stability - The Emotional Stability Scale on the PSI assessment helps to measure whether or not an applicant is likely to have emotional problems that could disrupt work performance or safety practices.
Customer Service Attitude - The Customer Service Attitude Scale helps assess the likelihood that the applicant will be courteous and cooperative toward customers and will understand how employee behavior affects customer buying decisions.
Customer Service Aptitude - The Customer Service Aptitude Scale helps to measure the ability to comprehend situations commonly found in customer service positions and act appropriately.
Customer Service Index - The Customer Service Index is a composite score based on customer service attitude, customer service aptitude and sales aptitude.
Validity Scales - The Validity/Candidness Scale helps identify applicants who completed the inventory in a socially desirable manner. Low scores indicate a tendency to exaggerate positive qualities and minimize negative traits.
The Validity/Accuracy Scale helps determine if the applicant both understood the inventory and carefully completed it.
Employability Index - The Employability Index is a composite score that provides a quick reference to the applicant's overall suitability for hire. |

| PSI Versions |

Select the PSI version that best meets your hiring needs from the versions below. More detailed explanations of each version can be found below. All versions contain validity scales for candidness and accuracy.
PSI-1 - Helps to measure attitudes toward honesty.
PSI-3 - Helps to measure attitudes toward honesty, non violence and drug avoidance. It can be used for positions where basic trustworthiness is not enough and/or where argumentativeness, physical violence and on-the-job use or sale of illegal drugs are important considerations.
PSI-3 Math - Assesses all areas that are measured by the PSI-3 and, additionally, basic arithmetic ability.
PSI-3S - Helps to measure attitudes toward honesty, non violence, drug avoidance and also assesses safety consciousness. This version is recommended for job classifications where a lack of safety consciousness could have harmful or dangerous consequences.
PSI-3T - Helps to measure attitudes toward honesty, nonviolence, drug avoidance and tenure.
PSI-3ST - This version of the PSI contains scales that measure the same areas as the PSI-3S as well as the likelihood that the employee will not quit after a short period of time. Information from these scales contributes to an overall composite score called the Employability Index.
PSI-4 - Helps to measure honesty and non-violence.
PSI-5 - Helps to measure attitudes toward honesty, non-violence, drug avoidance, stress tolerance and risk avoidance.
PSI-SS - Helps assess all areas that are measured by the PSI-5 and, additionally, safety consciousness.
PSI-7, PSI-7S, PSI-7T - These versions of the PSI were designed to aid human resource managers, risk managers and security managers in hiring honest, safe and productive employees. The PSI-7 subscales measure attitudes toward honesty, drug avoidance, employee-customer relations, work values and supervision. The PSI-7S adds safety and the PSI-7T adds tenure.
PSI-7ST - The PSI-7ST contains both the Safety and Tenure scales. Information from these subscales contributes to an overall composite score called the Employability Index. Follow-up interview questions also can be generated to address specific areas.
PSI-7 Math - Helps assess all the areas that are measured by the PSI-7 and, additionally, basic arithmetic ability.
PSI-7T Math - Helps assess all the areas that are measured by the PSI-7T and, additionally, basic arithmetic ability.
PSI-PST - Helps assess tenure, drug avoidance, employee/customer relations, safety, work values, productivity.
PSI-RST - Helps assess tenure, drug avoidance, employee/customer relations, safety, work values, responsibility.
PSI-Customer Service - Helps assess an applicant's overall customer service capability using measures of customer service attitude and sales and service aptitude. Also assesses attitudes toward honesty, drug avoidance and tenure.
PSI-Customer Service Math - Helps assess all the areas that are measured by the PSI-Customer Service and, additionally, basic arithmetic ability.
PSI-Sales - This version was designed to assess retail sales personnel based on their sales aptitude, customer service orientation, job commitment and integrity.
PSI-Banking - Helps assess honesty, tenure, drug avoidance, nonviolence, work values, supervision attitudes. |
