Get an accurate assessment of nonverbal abilities at three levels with the Raven's Progressive Matrices. The Raven's Progressive Matrices—Coloured Progressive Matrices (CPM), Standard Progressive Matrices (SPM), and Advanced Progressive Matrices (APM)—are designed to measure eductive ability, a component of Spearman's g, related to the ability to educe relationships. Many new features enhance your assessment, including alternative forms of the CPM and SPM, and an extended version of the SPM.
Coloured Progressive Matrices
Printed in several colours, the Coloured Progressive Matrices is an "easy" level test that spreads the scores of the bottom 20 percent of the general population. It may be used with young children, mentally impaired adolescents, and the elderly.
The CPM includes the two easiest item sets from the Standard Progressive Matrices, plus a dozen additional items of similar difficulty. The CPM is administered individually, although most children aged 8 and older can take the test in small groups. Manual Section 2 contains summary and detailed U.S. percentile norms and data on the comparability between the Parallel and Classic versions of the test, as well as additional normative data. A new CPM Parallel version is also available.
New Standard Progressive Matrices Parallel and Extended Versions
The Standard Progressive Matrices is an "average" level test for the general population. The SPM consists of five sets of 12 problems each. The new Extended (Plus) version contains more difficult items while retaining the 60-item format. Manual Section 3 includes summary and detailed U.S. percentile norms and a full discussion of the procedures used to develop the Parallel and Extended Plus versions of the tests. It also contains additional normative material and an updated review of literature bearing on the test's reliability and validity.
Advanced Progressive Matrices
The Advanced Progressive Matrices, or "difficult" level test, spreads the scores of the top 20 percent of the population. Applications include management selection (graduates), gifted education, and research on cognitive processes.
The APM is divided into two tests: Set I, a wide-range booklet with 12 problems, is used as a practice and screening test for Set II; Set II, a 36-problem series, is for use with persons of above-average intellectual ability.
The Advanced Progressive Matrices Manual Section 4 includes smoothed and detailed U.S. norms and updated validity data and new international and adult norms.
