Adaptability Test

The Adaptability Test is designed to measure mental adaptability or mental alertness. The test is used primarily as an employment aid to distinguish between those persons who should be placed in jobs that require more learning ability than those who do not readily adapt to new situations but who might be satisfactory (or even superior) employees on simple, routine jobs such as packing, inspecting, assembling or in operating simple, repetitive machines.

This test was designed for use by a broad range of people, from those who are limited in adaptability to those possessing a high degree. There are people, however, for whom the test is not entirely appropriate. Because it consists mainly of verbal items, it may not adequately reflect the adaptability of people with marked reading difficulties. Also, the test is neither sufficiently long nor difficult to be used to discriminate amount very high-level people such as top executives.

It has been validated against Clerical employees, General Managers, Front Line Supervisors, Pharmaceutical Company Finishers, Industrial Supervisors and Chemical Plant employees.
