Crawford Small Parts Dexterity Test

You can obtain a realistic indication of an applicant’s eye-hand coordination and fine motor dexterity with the CSPD. In just eight (timed) to 15 (untimed) minutes, determine whether your applicant has the skills so vital in positions such as instrument mechanic, engraver, etcher, precision electronics assembler or watch repairman.

Using a wooden board (10" x 10" x 1") with separate wells for pins, collars, and screws, the applicant performs two sets of activities.

Part I with tweezers, the examinee inserts small pins into close fitting holes in a plate to place small collars over protruding pins. (Three minutes)

Part II The examinee places small screws into threaded holes in the plate and screws them down with the screwdriver until they strike the metal tray below. (Five minutes)
