Business Letter Edit
The Business Letter Edit test is a 30-minute online administrative assessment designed to measure a candidate’s proofreading, editing, and document formatting skills. Instead of typing a letter from scratch, applicants are presented with a pre-loaded document inside a word processing program and tasked with directly polishing its layout and mechanics.
About this Test
Assess candidates for the ability to accurately type and make corrections from a text original containing grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting errors with the Business Letter Edit test.
The Business Letter Edit test is designed to measure a candidate’s ability to accurately make corrections from a business letter containing punctuation, spelling, and formatting errors. In this assessment, the text of the letter appears in the word processing program. Candidates are instructed to correctly format and edit the letter provided in the program, rather than having to type in the letter from a text original.
Note that the same text is used in both the Business Letter Compose and Business Letter Edit tests. Therefore, we advise clients not to use both tests in given test session, as experience with one of the tests may influence scores on the other.
What It’s Best Used For
This test is best used during the pre-employment screening phase to verify that clerical, secretarial, and office support staff can clean up messy corporate correspondence independently.
- Evaluating Active Error Correction: The assessment directly measures an applicant’s ability to spot and fix hidden mistakes in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Testing Document Layout Agility: It evaluates how effectively a candidate can reorganize raw text into a standard, professional business layout with appropriate line spacing and block alignments.
- Global Localization Match: The platform offers localized regional variants—including US English, UK English, and Australian English—to match your specific corporate baseline.
- Efficient Hiring Workflows: Designed for an unproctored, remote environment, it lets HR teams easily screen high-volume applicant pools and access an immediate online score report.
(Note: This assessment is fully legal for use in Canada. Because it uses the exact same letter text as the Business Letter Compose test, we strongly advise against using both tools in the same screening session).
