What does it do and what problem does it solve?
This assessment is a test designed to help assess various personality traits matched to job performance. Use it to assess applicants for a variety of roles and and positions. Use the Search function (upper right) to find similar tests including the “Thurstone Temperament Sorter” and “General Reasoning Test”.
We regret to announce that as of February 2019 the publisher of this product has temporarily discontinued it. Until further notice it is no longer available for purchase. We’re anticipating its return in early 2020 (likely in an online format). We apologize for the inconvenience that this creates for current users. The Thurstone Temperament Schedule helps measure personality traits related to job performance.
Job Types: Variety of occupations, particularly retail and clerical, entry- or management-level positions.
Administration: Paper and pencil.
Scoring: Hand-scored carbon format.
Time: No limit (approximately 15-20 minutes).
The TTS assessment helps evaluate six personality traits and provides a profile that can be helpful in assessing probable success in a particular position. These traits are:
Active – Works and moves rapidly.
Impulsive – Carefree disposition; makes decisions quickly.
Dominant – Leadership ability; capable of taking initiative and responsibility.
Stable – Cheerful, even disposition.
Sociable – Enjoys company of others.
Reflective – Thinks meditatively; enjoys theoretical problems.
Normative Data. Percentile norms are listed by trait for various educational and job classifications.
Validation Studies. Validation studies have been conducted in various educational and industrial settings for the following jobs and scores on the TTS assessment were found to be related to job performance:
• managers of small retail stores
• office workers
• retail store sales employees
• sales supervisors
• third- and fourth-grade teachers
