Purpose: The Math For Industry Aptitude Test pre-employment math test for industry contains math problems often found in industrial jobs. It measures the ability to solve word problems, read graphs, use measuring devices, and analyze graphical measurement problems. Difficulty level is approximately ninth grade. The test should be used when employees must use math skills to solve various problems of a technical nature, particularly when the problems require reasoning and the solutions cannot necessarily be learned by rote memorization.
We recommend using this test for positions such as entry-level industrial workers, manufacturing workers, shipping & receiving clerks, technical maintenance workers, lab assistants, and quality assurance technicians.
About the Math for Industry Pre-Employment Test: This test contains 40 items and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
Candidates scoring high on the Math Test for Industry tend to be efficient in handling their duties. They can work independently to solve fairly complex quantitative problems and they tend not to make many math or math reasoning errors. Candidates scoring low on this test are easily confused by math problems and tend to depend on others to handle these aspects of the job. They would be good candidates for on-the-job basic skills training.
