The Time Management Inventory presents employees with 25 typical time management practices and behaviors. Issues range from constructive practices like prioritizing daily work, setting aside time for creative thinking, and keeping a time log to counter-productive practices like failing to listen carefully, tackling the uncontrollables, and trying to involve everyone. Employees are required to indicate the extent to which they engage in each practice or behavior. Corresponding correct practices and time management tips are provided in the Administration Guide that accompanies each set of questionnaires.
The Time Management Inventory also includes a structured Time Management Planning Guide in which employees list time management barriers that inhibit their personal effectiveness and develop strategies for improving their time management practices.
